Floating PV – solar systems on water

Future-oriented, space-saving and powerful

Utilise unused water areas such as quarry ponds, but also lakes used for boating, filled gravel pits or former open-cast mining areas for economical self-sufficient power supply. We can safely install your floating PV system on the water – with experience, technical expertise and comprehensive service.

Your advantages with floating PV

  • Up to 10%1 more electricity yield thanks to natural cooling
  • No land consumption – ideal when space is limited
  • Can be combined with ESG targets and green electricity generation from renewable energies
  • Robust technology – UV-resistant, and designed for outdoor use
  • Comprehensive project support – from planning to operation

Experience shows up to apprpx. 10 % additional yield – depending on location, water temperature and system design.

For whom is floating PV particularly suitable?

  • Industry and commerce with water areas Increase your potential electricity self-sufficiency on existing water areas - e.g. at gravel pits, retention basins or cooling ponds.
  • Municipal and public operators Make sustainable use of disused or regulated water bodies, such as former open-cast mines.
  • Sustainability-oriented companies Innovative, visible PV technology on the water.

The PV system was implemented in two construction phases, including project development, construction, and commissioning. More than half of the electricity generated is used directly at the gravel plant – eliminating the need for diesel generators entirely.

Frequently asked questions about floating PV

  • Do I need a permit? Yes – especially with regard to water law. We coordinate the necessary expert reports and support you in the approval process.
  • How large can a system be? The plant can be up to double-digit megawatts in size, depending on the water area and local conditions.
  • Is floating PV worthwhile? Yes – especially with high own use. Subsidy programmes can also improve economic efficiency.
